Aims and objectives:
The role of imaging in urology varies from country to country. In some countries imaging, even conventional x-ray or fluoroscopy, is routine work in daily practice. On the other hand, in other countries all imaging is done by the radiologist. However, not only due to the need for frequent use of ultrasound it seems quite naturally that the urologist should utilise imaging modalities in order to evaluate the urologic organs. Modern imaging technologies, especially 3D and even 4D reconstruction, give magnificent anatomical perspectives which can be displayed and stored digitally in order to evaluate with and without the patient being present. We are increasingly collaborating with other specialties in order to perform more complex imaging. It seems very important to communicate with each other and other fields and investigate the perspectives of established and future imaging modalities in urology and their indications and limitations. In the name of the European Section of Urological Imaging (ESUI) we want to create or stimulate your interest in the field of imaging and hope that you will benefit from the experience of the presenters. Furthermore it is important that different countries exchange their experiences and discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the different systems. You are cordially invited to attend this annual meeting of our society during the EAU Congress and the many special courses offered of the presenters in their field of excellence.
