Aims and objectives:
Luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone (LHRH) agonists have become the treatment of choice for patients diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer and are used as adjuvant treatment to radical therapy. They aim to achieve a rapid and sustained suppression of serum testosterone levels with minimal breakthrough responses. Timing and duration of this type of treatment is still subject to debate. During the symposium, the audience will be updated on the current status of adjuvant and intermittent hormone therapy, as well as the importance of counselling of the prostate cancer patient. In addition, the advantages of the LHRH agonist Eligard®, which is available in 3 formulations (1-month, 3-month, 6-month) and makes it possible to offer a tailor-made approach to each individual patient, will be discussed.
